Jose runs Flush and Go Drain Services, septic and drain work, mostly emergency calls. Nobody looking for a septic company is browsing calmly on a desktop, so the site got built around that: phone number impossible to miss, service area stated plainly, fast enough to load on a phone with one bar in somebody's driveway. Then I built the local search structure underneath it. Different trade than yours, probably. Same approach.
What About Wix, Squarespace, and the $149 Deals?
Fair question, and here's the honest version.
You can build your own site. Squarespace and Wix have gotten good, and plenty of business owners put something respectable together in a weekend. If your needs are simple and your market is not crowded, that might be all you need, and I would rather tell you that than take your money.
The $149-a-month deals are a different animal. Those are rentals. You pay every month for a template you do not own, and when you stop paying, the site disappears. Nothing dishonest about the model, it just is not ownership, and there is usually no real local SEO underneath it.
